For OVR Coaches, Club Directors and Tournament Directors
Technical Guidelines
This Award is presented annually by an OVR Board Member or other designate at a time and date (usually November, December or January) corresponding to the recipient's pre-season club/organizational meeting, a CAP or ASEP clinic, or any other clinic or Board Meeting.
The candidate will have actively participated in local tournaments and/or OVR Regional events during the most recent OVR-USAV season, and will be a member in good standing in the Ohio Valley Region.
An individual may receive this award any number of times during her/his career but only once per season.
Only the winners of the Award will be announced. Other nominees shall remain anonymous.
Anyone may submit a nomination; however, an OVR adult member must support the nomination if the nominator is not a registered OVR-USAV member.
Purpose and Criteria
This award recognizes and pays tribute in the areas of coaching, program directing or tournament directing in the sport of volleyball for outstanding and exemplary contributions and commitment by an individual, through but not limited to, the following:
Excellence in coaching and/or club or tournament directing by demonstrating high standards of integrity and professionalism;
Devoted enthusiasm to the art of volleyball coaching or club/tournament directing;
Commitment to providing participants with quality instruction, education and equal opportunities in a safe, fair playing environment;
Promoting the growth and success of players, both on and off the court;
Cultivating and guiding the development of players through defined goals, mentoring, setting proper examples and interpersonal communication skills;
Personally maintaining the highest caliber of sporting conduct;
Earning the respect of others through his/her actions, both on and off the court.
