Tournament Information
Remember that Daylight Savings Time start this Sunday morning. Remember to SPRING ahead. This tournament is restricted to Ohio Valley Region teams only. This is a special tournament for teams to earn a spot in the OVR National Bid Tournament. The OVR National Bid Tournament is normally restricted to just teams registered as National Division teams. This Play-In Tournament allows 17 American teams to try to earn a spot in the Bid Tournament. The top two teams from this event are guaranteed a spot in the Bid Tournament. If more spots are available in the Bid Tournament then the 3rd and 4th place teams may also be invited to play in the Bid Tournament. This Play-In Tournament is only open to teams serious about playing in the Bid Tournament. Do not enter this tournament if you are not willing to participate in the Bid Tournament. If you earn a spot in the Bid Tournament and do not participate, your club will not be allowed to participate in the Play-In Tournament the next season. Grade-level teams are not allowed into this event. Your team must be age appropriate for the division you enter. There is room for 16 teams in this event. If more than 16 teams enter, then the highest ranked teams in the OVR seeding system as of Tuesday, March 8th will participate. Spots in this event are not first come-first served. If teams are tied for the 16th spot, then date of entry into the event will be used to determine which team(s) participate. Entry fee is $170 US per team. Please write your entry fee check payable to: OVR And mail to: Al Herbert 4440 Merlin Drive Uniontown, OH 44685-9641 Checks should be mailed by January 1, 2011. Checks are not deposited until the weekend of the event. If you are entering teams in multiple events, you may want to send a separate check per event. Because this is a qualifying event towards the Girls National Championship Tournament, the Libero WILL NOT be allowed to serve at this event. Door opens at 8:00 AM. There is a coaches’ meeting at 8:30 AM. Officials are requested to be present. The tournament starts at 9:00 A.M. sharp. Pool play is the best of three sets with rally scoring. Each non-deciding set will be to 25 points with a minimum two-point advantage (no scoring cap.) The deciding set, if needed, will be to 15 points with a minimum two point advantage (no scoring cap.)All warm-ups will use the 2-4-4 format; 2-minutes shared court,4-minutes Serving Team, 4-minutes Serve Receiving team. Teams may request the referee to tell them when to serve, usually one minute. NO OUTSIDE FOOD IS ALLOWED. - Individual portions are allowed in a player's bag. Keep all coolers in cars. Coolers are prohibited in and outside facilities hosting OVR-sanctioned events. Setting up tables and/or cooking by teams or their support staff, fans, coaches, or parents are prohibited at OVR-sanctioned events. This means NO TEAM BUFFETS. Team buffets will be confiscated if found. A Concession Stand with a variety of healthy foods is available at the tournament site. Seating is not provided, so please bring a chair. During each team’s full-court warm-up segment, the opposing team may NOT practice with balls in the free zone surrounding the court. Teams must go to their team bench. USAV rulebook, page 26, 7.2.2B 2. We will be adhering to the procedures and penalties for support officials during pool play and tournament (Item 6.3) 3. Coaches and Player who are not complete with their registration will not be permitted to participate in OVR Sanctioned events. Team/Tournament Cancellation: Per OVR regulations- a team canceling after the entry deadline will forfeit its entry fee. A team canceling prior to the entry deadline does not forfeit its full entry fee if a replacement is found. A team canceling from this tournament to enter a different tournament will forfeit its entry fee.
