Sanctioned Tryouts in the Ohio Valley Region
Applications for Sanction of Tryouts [girls', boys'] are accepted beginning on September 1. Tryouts are published as club directors apply for and receive sanction. If you don't see the tryouts for which you're looking, check again later, or contact the club director. Contact information is available for both clubs registered this season and clubs registered last season.
Clubs may host tryouts for athletes of high school age the day after the state championships in their state. Athletes from surrounding states are not permitted to attend tryouts in another state until the day after the state tournament has concluded in their state of residence. The last weekend of October is the first weekend tryouts are permitted for all other age groups. Contracts for elementary and junior high athletes may not be signed or accepted until November 1
For boys, tryouts may be held no earlier than September 1 for the regular season. Invitational offers may begin after July 15 until offer acceptance for current season. No contact period runs from offer acceptance until July 15.
New for 2009-2010, the OVR extends the American division to girls' 14s', 15s', 16s', and 17s' age groups.
Tryout procedures (signup, forms, arrival time, etc.) vary by club. Carefully read the listings of those clubs for which you will try out, consulting their websites and contacting the individual listed if you have any questions about the tryouts. All OVR clubs must follow the tryout policies that are detailed in the OVR Athletes' Bill of Rights and in the OVR Procedures and Rules for Juniors' Clubs.
Verbal commitments by players or parents to clubs are not binding. Commitments must be in writing: e-mail, written note, payment by check or cash (receipt required), or signed contract are binding to both parties for that season. A player contract is one requirement for club licensure.
Relevant forms include:
- The Athletes' Bill of Rights must to be given to each player at tryouts
- Many clubs request each participant to bring a completed OVR Waiver and Release
- Many clubs request each participant to bring a completed USAV Medical Release
- Many clubs have their own form(s) as well, which participants must obtain directly from the clubs
Tryout sites, dates, and times occasionally must be revised due to conflicts at facilities or other reasons. Before attending any tryout, please check again closer to the tryout date, and if the club has its own website, verify your plans there also.
Clubs register their players with the Ohio Valley Region. Junior players should not register directly with the Ohio Valley Region.

| There will be a $10 non-refundable tryout fee payable in cash or checks made out to "Trail Elite Volleyball Club". Please enter the building through the gymnasium door at the rear of the building. Signs will be posted. Pre-registration preferred. To pre-register or receive additional information, call Lynne at 740-584-4609 or send an email to trail.elite@yahoo.com with the following information: player name, parent name, address, phone number, email, school attended, present grade, and date of birth. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tryout time if pre-registered and 30 minutes prior to tryout time if registering the day of tryouts. If registering the day of tryouts, a parent/guardian must be present to sign all necessary forms. All necessary forms must be signed prior to participating in tryouts. Necessary forms will be forwarded to you upon pre-registration and/or will be available on the day of tryouts. | |||||
