Tournament Information

Teams may enter South Metro Sports tournaments by sending an entry fee ($400), team 11 digit ID#, and team contact name and address by January 15th, 2019. Thank you for your interest in our event. Team rosters will be downloaded from the OVR website the week of the tournament. Please make sure your coach is IMPACT and SafeSport certified. A coaches' meeting at 8:05 AM at the playing site will take place prior to the start of the tournament. Pool play begins at 8:30 AM both days. Playing format will follow the OVR procedures for a 16 team Two Day Challenge event. Refer to the OVR Juniors' Tournament guidelines for pools, formats, and specifics regarding this event.

POOL PHASES Pool play in 4-team pools is the best of three sets with rally scoring. Pool play in 3-team pools is the best of five sets with rally scoring. Each non-deciding set will be to 25 points with a minimum two-point advantage (no scoring cap). The deciding set in any match, if needed, will be to 15 points with a minimum two point advantage (no scoring cap). Each team's warm-up for their first match of the day will be 15 minutes, 7 minutes shared court, 4 minutes serving team, 4 minutes receiving team. Thereafter, all warm-ups will use the 2-4-4 format; 2-minutes shared court, 4-minutes Serving Team, 4-minutes Serve Receiving team. Teams will be re-pooled following the first round of play, with first and second place teams from all pools moving to pools AA & BB, third and fourth place teams from all pools moving to pools CC & DD. The second round of pool play will follow the same format and schedule as round one.

PLAYOFF PHASE Following the second round of pool play, teams will be seeded into specific tournament brackets as follows: The first and second place teams from pools AA & BB will advance to an 4-team Gold Division playoff bracket. The third and fourth place teams from pools AA & BB will advance to a 4-team Silver Division playoff bracket. The first and second place teams from pool CC & DD will advance to an 4-team Bronze Division playoff bracket. The third place teams from pools CC & DD will advance to a 2-team Copper Division playoff bracket. All playoff matches are best of three sets with rally scoring. Each non-deciding set will be to 25 points with a minimum two-point advantage(no scoring cap). The deciding set, if needed, will be to 15 points with a minimum two point advantage (no scoring cap). All warm-ups will use the 2-4-4 format; 2-minutes shared court, 4-minutes Serving Team, 4-minutes Serve Receiving team. Individual awards will be provided for the Gold Division champions/runners-up and the Silver Division champion.

Please note, the doors of the playing site will not be unlocked until 7:30 AM! Keep all coolers in cars. Coolers are prohibited in and outside facilities hosting OVR-sanctioned events. Setting up tables and/or cooking by teams or their support staff, fans, coaches, or parents are prohibited at OVR-sanctioned events. A full concession with reasonable prices will be provided at the tournament site.  OUTSIDE FOOD IS PROHIBITED!  Bleacher seating for spectators is provided, but individual chairs are permitted along the perimeter of the courts (off the sport court).

Tournament checks will be deposited January 15, 2019. Team/Tournament cancellation: Per OVR regulations- a team canceling after the entry deadline, 14 days prior to the tournament date, will forfeit its entry fee. A team canceling does not forfeit its full entry fee if a replacement is found. A team canceling from this tournament to enter a different tournament will forfeit its entry fee.

If Montgomery County is under a level 3 Emergency, the tournament will be canceled. For any reason the tournament is canceled, a notice will be displayed at the OVR Junior Tournament list. Club directors and/or coaches and officials will be contacted (phone, email) as soon as possible. Entry fees will be returned within 3 days of the cancellation.
