Tournament Information
Teams may enter Borderline Junior Volleyball tournaments by sending an entry fee ($175), team 11 digit ID#, and team contact name and address by January 15. Enclose a check for $350 made payable to Borderline Junior Volleyball. Mail to: Bill Zehler 1376 Oxford Trenton Rd. Hamilton, OH 45013 Thank you for your interest in our tournaments. Team rosters will be downloaded from the OVR website the week of the tournament. Please make sure your coach is IMPACT certified. A coaches’ meeting will take place at the playing site at 8:30 prior to the start of the tournament. The tournament starts at 9:00 A.M. sharp. Pool play is the best of three sets with rally scoring. Each non-deciding set will be to 25 points with a minimum two-point advantage (no scoring cap.) The deciding set, if needed, will be to 15 points with a minimum two point advantage (no scoring cap.) Each team's warm up period for their first match of the day will consist of 7 minutes of shared court, 4 4 minutes for the serving team, and 4 minutes for the receiving team. All other warm-ups will use the 2-4-4 format; 2-minutes shared court, 4-minutes Serving Team, 4-minutes Serve Receiving team. Teams may request the referee to tell them when to serve, usually one minute. Match order: [team in () refs] Match 1 1 vs. 3 (2) Match 2 2 vs. 4 (1) Match 3 1 vs. 4 (3) Match 4 2 vs. 3 (1) Match 5 3 vs. 4 (2) Match 6 1 vs. 2 (4) Teams will officiate according the above schedule for pool play. We are using two facilities for this event. Phillips Hall, on South Oak St., is the site of Courts 1, 2, and 3. Pools A, B, and C will play there for the first round. Pools AA, BB, and CC will play there for the second round. The Gold and Silver playoffs will play there as well. Withrow Court is the site of Courts 4, 5, and 6. Pools D, E, and F will play there for the first round. Pools DD, EE, and FF will play there for the second round. The Bronze, Copper, and Nickel playoffs will also play there. All teams will advance to the next round. All ties will be governed by USAV tie-breaking procedures (no tie-breaker sets). 1st, 2nd and top four 3rd place teams advance to the upper division pools. The other four rounds will be played Sunday starting at 9 am. All teams will advance to the playoffs. All ties will be governed by USAV tie-breaking procedures. The 1st and 2nd place teams from pool AA, BB, CC and DD advance to the Gold playoffs. The 3rd place teams in Pool AA, BB, CC and DD advance to Silver. The 4th place teams in Pool AA, BB, CC and DD advance to Bronze. 1st and 2nd place teams in Pools EE and FF advance to Copper. 3rd and 4th place teams in Pools EE and FF advance to Nickel. Medals will be awarded to the overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams in the Gold playoffs. There will be a coaches meeting on court 1 at 8:30 am Saturday morning. You will verify your roster and pick up your tournament packet. The packet will include all of the pools and the playoff bracket information. Pools A, B, and C will be played at Phillips Hall. Pools D, E, and F will be played at Withrow Court. All teams will play their first pool, then repool to Pools AA, BB, CC, DD, EE, and FF. Pools AA, BB, and CC will be played at Phillips Hall. Pools DD,EE, and FF will be played at Withrow Court. The first two matches of the second pools will be played Saturday afternoon. The remainder of the second pools will begin at 9 AM on Sunday morning. All teams will then be placed into playoff brackets. The lowest seeded team in each division not playing the first round of the playoffs will officiate the first playoff match. Tournament play will be the best of three sets. After the first round of the playoffs, all losing teams, before leaving, must stay and officiate the next match. Please note, the doors of the playing site will not be unlocked until 8:00 AM. Team camps are only permitted in designated areas. The use of any ball outside of the gymnasium is not permitted while inside the building. Keep all coolers in cars. Coolers are prohibited in and outside facilities hosting OVR-sanctioned events. Setting up tables and/or cooking by teams or their support staff, fans, coaches, or parents are prohibited at OVR-sanctioned events. A concession stand should be provided at the tournament site. Tournament checks will be deposited January 15. Team/Tournament Cancellation: Per OVR regulations- a team canceling after the entry deadline, 14 days prior to the tournament date, will forfeit its entry fee. A team canceling prior to the entry deadline does not forfeit its full entry fee if a replacement is found. A team canceling from this tournament to enter a different tournament will forfeit its entry fee. If Butler County is under a Level 3 Emergency, the tournament will be canceled. For any reason the tournament is canceled, a notice will be displayed at the OVR Junior Tournament list and the Borderline website (www.borderlinevbc.org). Club directors and/or coaches and officials will be contacted (phone, email) as soon as possible. Entry fees will be returned within 3 days of the cancellation.
