OVR Handbook 2011: 5. Registration | Contents | Next |
USAV memberships expire on October 31. Returning professional officials must register by October 31. Club directors and others involved with tryouts must register prior to holding tryouts. Players normally register with their team, with the club director or team rep registering online and sending in waivers and all necessary fees.
Prior to each new season, registration packets are made available to representatives of all returning clubs and teams as well as to anyone wishing to form a new club or team. Adults registration information (www.ovr.org/adults/) and the Juniors' Registration Packet (www.ovr.org/juniors/registration_packet/) are available on the OVR website.
The OVR offers online registration (www.ovr.org/register/) for all registration types: professional officials, juniors' clubs, men's, women's, and juniors' teams, add-ons, individuals not affiliated with any club or team (e.g. certain tournament hosts), and early-season registration of juniors' club directors, coaches, and parents/chaperones. Those registering electronically receive their registration numbers and team codes immediately, and they also benefit from having their full roster information in the OVR database.
Do not register until you are ready with your registration fee(s) and all required forms! Payments are to be mailed immediately after supplying your information. Registrations are not complete until fees and forms are received and recorded.
It is imperative that correct addresses be provided for all members. Rule books and the USA Volleyball magazine cannot reach you and the members you represent if the addresses you provide are incomplete or incorrect.
Register members of your club or team only after you have firm commitments. (Juniors' club directors: the Athletes' Bill of Rights protects you from players "changing their minds" after committing.) We transmit membership data to USA Volleyball as soon as possible to begin members' benefits. Once a member's data is transmitted, it is impossible to revoke that member's memberhip. Do not ask for a refund for any membership.
Juniors' Club Directors should read and understand the Juniors' Registration Packet prior to registering.
It is absolutely imperative that correct addresses be provided for all members. Rule books and the USA Volleyball magazine cannot reach you and the members you represent if the addresses you provide are incomplete or incorrect.
Adults' team reps should read and understand the adults' registration information prior to registering.

a signed Waiver and Release for each individual being registered
for each juniors' coach and club director being registered, a signed Junior Coaches' Code of Ethics
for each non-junior who will interact with juniors, a completed and signed Consent Waiver and Release for Background Screening (from the SSCI website)

Your registration is not complete until we receive and accept your signed documents and registration fees. It is critical that the OVR office receives your information promptly, and individuals who will interact with juniors cannot do so until their background screening is complete. If not received within 10 calendar days of your registration, the player and team numbers issued may be voided and the registration canceled.
A $25 fee will be charged for all checks that fail to clear.
To keep everyone's fees as low as possible, at this time the OVR does not accept credit card payments.
Teams should make every effort to complete their roster prior to their initial registration. However, should it become necessary to add a player to your team's roster, you can do so at www.ovr.org/register/ prior to that player's participation in any OVR event.
Player transfer policy is documented at www.ovr.org/register/player_transfers.php.
