Ohio Valley Region: Advancing Volleyball in Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia

Player Transfers

USA Volleyball / Ohio Valley Region memberships begin on the earlier of completion of registration and September 1, and they end on August 31. (For example, the 2010-2011 season runs from September 1, 2010 through August 31, 2011.) During any given season, a player may represent only one club unless a formal transfer is granted.

Player transfers from one club to another club are strongly discouraged. When unavoidable, player transfers require prior written permission from the OVR Commissioner. Requests for player transfers will be considered by the OVR Commissioner only if each the following applies:

  1. The player documents extenuating circumstances; e.g. a work-required change in geographical residence of over two hours' travel time from the original club.
  2. The player has not yet entered sanctioned competition with the original club.
  3. The player has met all financial obligations to the original club.
  4. The OVR Commissioner has received a written release from the original club for the player requesting the transfer.

Note: A "Player Contract" is a legal agreement between a Club (which is an independent business) and a Player or (if the player is a minor) the player's Parent/Guardian. A Player Contract may impose additional terms and conditions, beyond those indicated above, which could affect the granting of the written release by the Club. Any dispute regarding a Player Contract must be settled between the Player/Parent/Guardian and the Club, pursuant to applicable contract law.

Players granted transfers are ineligible for Regionals, Nationals, and inter-region tournaments.

To request a transfer or for any questions regarding transfers, contact Bob Price, OVR Commissioner/President (price@ovr.org, 614-882-2468).
