Borderline Junior Volleyball has been in existence since 1994. Known as the “Miami Club”, we ran

hundreds of tournaments at Miami University facilities in Oxford, Hamilton, Middletown, and local

schools in the area. We filled a huge need for events in SW OH.

As the need for us to host tournaments waned and facilities started popping up, we stopped running

events. We haven’t run tournaments the past few years. We sorely missed our loyal officials and seeing

the clubs at our events. Many of you have played in a Borderline Tournament.

Things are changing! With the construction of the new, state of the art, sports complex known as

Spooky Nook Champion Mill in Hamilton, Ohio, we are back in the tournament business! Borderline is

hosting our inaugural Borderline Bash event for American and Regional teams on February 24-25, 2024.

This is a two-day event with lots of seeding points.

The entry fee is $495, payable to Borderline Junior Volleyball. The admission fee is $10 for adults aged

19 and older. Hotel accommodations are available at the Warehouse Hotel at Champion Mill.

Tournament entry requires registration through AES beginning July 1 2023. OVR teams will have their team code transferred to the OVR tournament information. Out of region teams will have their team name and code transferred as well. Team acceptance is based on AES entry and received entry fee. Team withdrawal causes loss of the entry fee unless a fully paid replacement team is entered.

Team entry fees ($495) are due by December 15, 2023 and can be paid with a check or through AES. If paying through AES, there will be a non-refundable 3% processing fee added to the entry fee. Tournament entry fees paid with a check will be deposited two weeks before the tournament. If by check, please send a separate check for each OVR tournament that you have teams entered. Not a separate check per team, just per event.

Spectator admission: $10 per day for all individuals 19 years and older. Admission tickets can be purchased either the day of the tournament or prior to the tournament. Spooky Nook will provide a ticket link below.

The format and time schedule will be based on number of teams entered.

Saturday - Doors open at 7am for first round check-in
First round pool play at 8AM for 13R, 14R, 15R, 17R; First two matches of the Second Round to follow.
Second round check-in begins 2.30PM
First round pool play at 4PM for 13A, 14A, 15A, 16A; First two matches of the Second Round to follow.

Sunday - Doors open at 7am
8AM: First wave complete Second Round pool play.Tournament bracket to follow

Pool Play Procedures for 4 team pools:
Pool play is the best of three sets with rally scoring. Each non-deciding set will be to 25 points with a minimum two-point advantage (no scoring cap.) The deciding set, if needed, will be to 15 points with a minimum two-point advantage (no scoring cap.)

Playing Schedule: All schedules and updates will be available via AES the week of the event.

Work Team Procedures: Teams will have to supply a down official, 2 line judges, an official scorer, a Libero tracker and score flipper for the matches they are required to officiate. A coach must be present at the Scorer’s table. Please have the work team available court side at the coin toss for the next match. Each work team is to provide a whistle for the down official, pens and pencils for score table duties. At the completion of the match, please remove all pens and pencils. Be sure the coaches pickup their lineup sheets. Teams are responsible for clean-up of their bench area. The court official and /or Tournament assistants will be responsible for any match papers.

Coaches Meeting: There will not be a coaches' meeting prior to the start of the tournament. This tournament will not use AES rosters. OVR Coaches will verify team rosters online at the OVR website. If a change needs to be made to the roster, a coach can provide an updated roster when they check-in Saturday, the first day of the tournament. Upon check-in, wrist bands will be given to coaches and their staff. Roster changes cannot be made once a team starts their first match. The use of AES providing the schedule means a tournament handout to coaches is not necessary.
