Glenn Purdy Meritorious Service Award
2001 Recipient: Glenn Purdy

In recognition for Glenn's over 50 years' service to volleyball, the Ohio Valley Region created the Glenn Purdy Meritorious Service Award, naming Glenn as its first recipient.

Glenn began playing volleyball in 1941 at the YMCA in Joliet, Illinois. He played through 1964, at which time he switched his focus to officiating. Glenn obtained his National Referee rating in 1983 and his National Scorekeeper rating in 1984, following which he obtained his National Rating for women's collegiate volleyball an officiated the Division III National Championship Finals twice. Glenn will have had his Class 1 Rating for high school volleyball for 25 years this fall.

Glenn has requested retirement from the USAV as a National official, but we expect to see him often within the region.
