Dear [name]:

On behalf of USA Volleyball I would like to congratulate you on having been selected to the USA 2003 Girls' Youth National Training team. You are part of the next generation of athletes who we hope will help the US National Team win Olympic Gold someday. Participation in our Youth National Team program is an important step toward that goal.

We have selected a total of 22 players to our Youth National Training Camp that will be held at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York beginning Wednesday, July 16 through Sunday, August 3. You will fly into Montreal where a shuttle bus will take you to Lake Placid (about 90 minutes). Included in this training period will hopefully be a week of training and practice matches with the Junior National Team of Canada. On August 3, the entire group will depart from the OTC in Lake Placid and return to Montreal. Twelve athletes will remain in Montreal to participate in the National Teams Champions Cup (NTCC), while the remaining 10 will return home. However, we are trying to secure a 2nd spot in the NTCC which would mean that all 22 athletes would participate in Montreal. Those participating in the NTCC would return home on Sunday, August 10.

We need to hear from you immediately (no later than this Friday) regarding whether you are committed to joining the Youth National Training Team, and whether you would be able to attend through August 10th if you are selected for the final Girls' Youth National Team. Please contact us as soon as possible regarding your intent to participate and your flexibility for travel. As soon as we hear from you, we will begin to schedule your flights to and from Montreal. As noted during the tryout, USA Volleyball will cover all of your travel, room and board expenses for all remaining activities related the to Girls' Youth National Team.

Again, congratulations on an excellent tryout and your development as a volleyball athlete. I hope that you view this chance to represent the USA in a major international competition as a special one.

Sincerely,

Tom Pingel

Tournament Information

We are currently working with state and local health authorities to determine the number of people they will allow in the arena. We have been unable to get a definitive number from them.

For now I would plan for at least one spectator for each player. I do caution that this may change as we get closer to the actual event date.

Sorry I cannot be any clearer. Due to the pandemic, many situations have become fluid, and unpredictable.

Rest assured we are committed to hosting Spikefest as long as it is permitted by the health authorities.
