OVR-Kaepa® USA Juniors' Tournament Schedule 2020
Sunday, March 29, 2020
Penn State Behrend, Erie, PA
The 14 Cincy VBC came to Phoenix with an ax to grind. Seeded 34th, the group knew it would be tough to survive the first day. The team finished third in their pool, winning only one match.
Because of the third-place finish, Cincy had to play one match to stay in the top division early on the second day. They won the match in two games. Later that day, Cincy played hard, beating the second- and third-seeded teams in the pool and placing second that day.
The third day brought on the fourth- and fifth-seeded teams overall, Brazos Valley and NI Jrs. First Kill. Cincy took on a tough Brazos Valley, who only had lost one game over the past two days. Cincy dropped the first game 13-25 and then fought back to win the second game 25-22 and third game 16-14, handing the Texas team their first loss. First Kill won the next match against Cincy 25-22, 25-27, but Cincy pulled out the spot in the gold division by placing second. In the quarter-final game on Sunday, Cincy lost to eventual gold champion N. Iowa X-treme in three close games. Cincy 14s finished a very respectable 5th place in the gold division.
