From the South:
Take I-79 North to the Sewickley Exit #66. Take Route 65 North to Ambridge. Pass Ambridge Ace Hardware to first traffic light and turn right onto Route 989/8th Street. Go to fourth traffic signal and turn left onto Duss Avenue. The school is on the left.
From the North:
1. Take Route 65 South to Route 989/8th Street in Ambridge. Make a left on 8th Street and go to fourth traffic signal and turn left onto Duss Ave. The school is on the left.
2. Take I-79 South to Sewickley Exit #66. Take Route 65 North to Ambridge. Pass Ambridge Ace Hardware; red light after Ace Hardware (Route 989/8th Street) make a right and go to fourth traffic signal to Duss Avenue. The school is on the left.
From Route 60 North (from Pittsburgh):
Take Parkway West towards Airport to Moon Township. Follow Route 60 North to the Hopewell Exit. Make right turn onto Rt. 151. Stay on Rt. 151 for approximately 4 miles – through 5-Points intersection (McDonald’s and CVS at corner) and follow Route 151 to the bottom of the hill where you come to a “T”. At bottom of hill, make left on to Route 51 and go approximately one mile to the Ambridge/Aliquippa Bridge. Make a right onto bridge, and you will come into Ambridge on 11th Street. Follow 11th Street to the third traffic signal and make a right on Duss Ave. The school is on the right just past the tennis courts.
From Route 60 South (from Chippewa and Beaver):
Follow Route 60 South to the Hopewell Exit. Make left turn onto Route 151. Stay on Route 151 for approximately 4 miles-through 5-Points intersection (McDonald’s and CVS at corner) and follow Route 151 to the bottom of the hill where you come to a “T”. At bottom of hill make left on to Route 51 and go approximately one mile to the Ambridge/Aliquippa Bridge. Make a right onto bridge, and you will come into Ambridge on 11th Street. Follow 11th Street to the third traffic signal and make a right on Duss Ave. The school is on the right just past the tennis courts.
From the PA Turnpike:
Get off Cranberry Township Exit and follow signs to Route 19 South toward Pittsburgh. Follow Route 19 South a short distance to Warrendale and the Red Belt intersection. Turn right onto the Red Belt and follow Red Belt for approximately 6 miles. You will come to a “T” where you will bear right staying on Red Belt. Follow Red Belt for another 5-6 miles into Leet Township. Go to end of Red Belt to 4-way intersection and turn right at Crossroads Café onto Beaver St. into Ambridge. You will pass a Duquesne Power Plant on your left. Go about ¼ mile to traffic light. At light bear right onto Duss Ave. Go one mile on Duss Ave. to Ambridge High School, which is on the left.
Tournament Information
NOTE: This is an OVR Sanctioned event and all OVR tournament rules will be followed--NO exceptions. Several rules also deal with spectators (food, coolers, seating, etc). So, please pass this information onto your parents. Entry Fee: $175 Payable to: Beaver Valley Premier Send to: Glenn Freed, 2501 Ridge Road Ext., Baden, PA 15005 Doors open at 7:20am (PLEASE do not try to enter earlier). Coaches/Referee Meeting at 7:35am. Official Warm-up begins at 7:45am. Pool-play begins at 8:00am sharp. The tournament is being held at the Ambridge Area High School gymnasium. For the tournament, there are 2 courts of pool-play (4 teams per pool, maximum of 8 teams). For pools of 4 teams, the best of 3 sets will win matches. Each non-deciding set will be won by the team that first scores 25 points with a minimum 2-point advantage (no scoring cap). If there is a deciding set, it will be won by the team that first scores 15 points with a minimum 2-point advantage (no scoring cap). Change sides when a team earns 8 points. A point will be scored on each rally. If the receiving team wins the rally, they score a point and gain the serve. Playoffs: All teams advance. All teams must be ranked within their pools based on match percentage first. For any ties, the OVR tie-breaking procedure will be used. All first-place and second-place teams to the Gold playoffs. All third-place and fourth-place teams to the Silver playoffs. Playoff positions on the tournament brackets will be based on pool finish to avoid teams from the same pool playing each other in the first round. 4 Team Pool Match order: [team in () refs] Match 1 1 vs. 3 (2) Match 2 2 vs. 4 (1) Match 3 1 vs. 4 (3) Match 4 2 vs. 3 (1) Match 5 3 vs. 4 (2) Match 6 1 vs. 2 (4) First-place team awards for coaches and players will be given for the top team in the Gold playoffs (maximum 12 awards per team). A concession stand will be available with food and drinks. Per OVR policy, coolers are prohibited in AND outside facilities hosting OVR-sanctioned events. Setting up tables and/or cooking by teams or their support staff, fans, coaches, or parents are prohibited at OVR-sanctioned events. Coolers must be left in your vehicle. If the following rules are not complied with, it will result in a fine of up to $250 and a team/club suspension. It is the responsibility of the club director to provide complete and correct rosters prior to the tournament or during the coaches’ meeting. An up-to-date entry form must be submitted at the coaches’ meeting, prior to the start of pool play AND signed by the coach. All team entry information should include the following: • club name/team name (e.g. Exemplar VBC – 14 Titans) • 11-character team code (e.g. MJ8-EXEMP1-OV) • team registration number (e.g. OV-MJ-1234) • registration numbers for all participating players and coaches • uniform numbers for all participating players A team arriving late for its first match has a 10-minute grace period after the warm-up before forfeiting its first set. This is followed by another 10-minute period before that team forfeits its second set. However, the match is not delayed if six players from that team are present at any time during this delay period. The warm-up time for a team's first match will be 15 minutes: 7 minute of shared ball handling on-court, 4 minutes full-court for the serving team, and 4 minutes full-court for the receiving team. The mandatory warm-up time between all other matches is 10 minutes: 2 minutes of shared ball handling on-court, 4 minutes full-court for the serving team, and 4 minutes full-court for the receiving team. During each team’s fullcourt warm-up segment, the opposing team may not practice with balls in the free zone surrounding the court or any other location; they must be at their team's bench. Teams that wish to practice serving during the warm-ups may ask to be informed when they have one minute (or more/less) remaining in their 4-minute period. Shared serving between the two teams is not permitted. This applies to all matches. The time between sets is 3 minutes. Teams may warm up with balls on their respective courts or free zone during the 3-minute set intervals. Spiking at the net is not permitted. Balls may not be used for warm-ups during time-outs. Support crew must provide (6 people): *2 line judges *CERTIFIED 2nd referee (or coach must assume this duty) *CERTIFIED junior scorebook keeper (or coach must assume this duty) *flip scorer *libero tracker The coach must be at courtside during the entire match. The coach must assume the duties of any player who is not performing adequately. The R2 and scorekeeper should report to the court official at the coin toss. If they are not present by the beginning of the first times warm-up then one point will be given to their next opponent, and one point will continue to be given for every minute that they are late. The rest of the support crew (lines judges, scoreboard operator, and libero tracker) must report to the court official no later than the beginning of the second times warmup or a point will be given to their next opponent. An additional point will be given for every minute that the work crew is incomplete for their officiating duties. If no additional matches are to be played in that tournament, a $50 fine shall be imposed. Teams must also provide a support crew during playoffs (before and/or after competing). Flash photography is prohibited during play. Use of video recorders and cameras is limited to the team with which the person using the device is directly associated. Use of phones, music players, and other electronic devices (excluding medical devices) by officiating teams is strictly prohibited. If anyone from the support team is found using one of these devices, their team shall give up ten points to their next opponent. If no additional matches are to be played in that tournament, a $50 fine shall be imposed. Please make sure that all of the coaches and players are aware of this rule. A team canceling after the entry deadline, 14 days prior to the tournament date, will forfeit its entry fee. A team canceling prior to the entry deadline does not forfeit its full entry fee if a replacement team is found. Phone or other expenses incurred to find a replacement may be deducted from the entry fee refund. A team canceling from one tournament to enter a different tournament will forfeit its entry fee. If a team requests and receives entry into a tournament but does not pay its entry fee, the teams' club will be fined the amount of the entry fee. If the tournament location is affected by weather conditions, the tournament may be canceled. The tournament director shall make a timely decision of any change to the tournament's status. All changes will be updated on-line a.s.a.p. and emails will be sent to all of the email addresses (coaches & club directors) that are available to the tournament director. The use of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages is prohibited in gyms, locker rooms, facilities, etc. All bench personnel must be IMPACT or CAP certified and also have a current USAV background screening completed. Volleyballs will not be provided for warm-ups. Please bring your own. The pursuit rule will not be used on either court. The libero is permitted to serve in one position in the serving order. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items; please secure all valuables and have your items watched at all times. Please, no food or drinks in the gym. Bleacher seating for spectators will be provided.
