Each non-deciding set will be won by the team that first scores 25 points with a minimum 2-point advantage (no scoring cap). If there is a deciding set, it will be won by the team that first scores 15 points with a minimum 2-point advantage (no scoring cap). Change sides when a team earns 8 points. Match order: Team in () refs Match 1 - 1 vs. 3 (2) Match 2 - 2 vs. 4 (1) Match 3 - 1 vs. 4 (3) Match 4 - 2 vs. 3 (1) Match 5 - 3 vs. 4 (2) Match 6 - 1 vs. 2 (4) All teams advance to playoffs. All teams must be ranked within their pools based on match percentage first. For any ties, use the tie-breaking procedure below. All first-place, second-place, and the top two third-place teams to the Gold playoffs. The remaining third-place and all fourth-place teams to the Silver playoffs. Playoff positions on the tournament brackets will be based on pool finish to avoid teams from the same pool playing each other in the first round. To avoid third-place teams playing a team from their pool for the first tournament match, a tournament director can choose to switch best third place and second-best third-place teams on the tournament bracket if both teams consent to the change. Seeding procedure: Pool A - Seeds 1, 6, 7, 12 Pool B - Seeds 2, 5, 8, 11 Pool C - Seeds 3, 4, 9, 10 Teams from the same club, regardless of seed, should not be placed in the same pool. Tie-breaking: Since all teams advance to playoffs, ties will not be decided by playing a set. 1. If 2 teams from the same pool are tied, their head to head match determines their order of finish. 2. If 3 teams from the same pool are tied after match and set % and point differential have been calculated, a coin flip will determine their order of finish. For the third-place teams: 3. If 2 teams from different pools are tied after match and set % and point differential have been calculated, a coin flip will determine their order of finish. 4. If 3 teams from different pools are tied after match and set % and point differential have been calculated, a coin flip will determine their order of finish. OFFICIALS: Work rotations will be set by the designated head official. Highest ranking officials will be expected to work the finals. All officials are expected to be there by 7:30 AM and attend the coaches meetings. Checks will not be issued for any officials working final matches, until the game balls are returned to the tournament director. All officials eat free of charge from the concession stand. A referee hired/contracted to officiate a juniors’ regular-season tournament will be compensated on a tiered pay scale based on certifi cation level: • Junior: $150/day or $25/match, whichever is greater • Provisional/Regional (and Retired Junior National/National): $165/day or $27.50/match, whichever is greater • Junior National/National: $180/day or $30/match, whichever is greater When a referee works more than 6 matches per day, they are paid an additional match fee per match beyond six. AdProcedures and Rules for Juniors’ Regular-Season Tournaments 8 Ohio Valley Region, Inc. (www.ovr.org) Additional per-match fees are $25/match for Junior referees, $27.50/match for Provisional and Regional referees, and $30/match for Junior National and National referees. A referee acting as the head referee shall be compensated at the rate of $5 per court (1-2 courts) and $15 total for 3 or more courts. Referees can be further compensated if they must travel a long distance. A referee who is unable to complete his or her assignment will be compensated for any completed matches at the appropriate rate stated above.
