Below are the Columbus Convention Center site rules and regulations. Violations of the rules and regulations will result in disqualification and elimination from the event of the offending teams and/or individuals, including parents.

1. No coolers or food may be brought into the building by players or parents. (The center has two concession areas.)
2. No passing volleyballs in hallways or concessions areas. Warm-up time will be provided on the court before the match.
3. No smoking in gym areas or hallways.
4. Junior Championships: All teams are to camp in the concourse (and not to block any doors!). Do not camp in exhibit halls D, E, and F, where the tournament is running.
5. There are no shower facilities.
6. Keep all chairs far away from any court or playable areas. (Parents may bring their own chairs.)
7. Only certified vendors may sell clothing, shirts, shoes, etc. with approval from the Commissioner.
8. Put all trash in containers provided by the Convention Center staff.

As you look at the pools you will see teams from the same club in the same pools.  This is a change from a normal OVR tournament.  The National Club Directors decided several years ago that since the Girls Junior National Championship Bids were being played for, all teams should be seeded according to the seeding process.  Teams from the same club were not to be moved to another pool.

Ohio Valley Region Bids:
12s - 2 National and 2 American (Updated 7 pm 4/11.)
13s through 18s - 1 National and 3 American

As for the usual question about additional bids, last year we were notified of an additional National Bid in 12s, 13s, 14s, 17s and 18s on Thursday, April 21, 2011.  We received an additional 15 National Bid on Thursday, April 28, 2011.  We did not ever receive an additional 16 National Bid.

There isn't any admission charge to attend.  Come enjoy the volleyball.

Chairs for spectators will not be provided around the courts.  Please bring your own chairs.

Note:  Regional and American teams that earned a spot in this event through the OVR Bid Play-In Tournament will receive full seeding points after the tournament completes.  The system has to be over-ridden at that time.  Sorry for the confusion.  Al Herbert  3/28



This tournament used to allocate the Ohio Valley Region's National and American bids to the USAV Girls Junior National Championships to be hosted by Colubmus on June 28 through July 7.  So entry into this event is restricted to only OVR registered teams.

All OVR teams registered in the National Divisions are eligible to enter.  We will do our best to accept all teams that register by February 29th.  But space and court restrictions may force use to a limited number in particular divisions.  We will know more after the registration period ends on 2/29/2012.

There will also be Bid Play-In Tournaments on March 24 and 25th for 18 and 12 Regional and 17 through 13 American teams.  The top 2 and maybe as many as 4 teams from each of these tournaments will also be invited to attend the OVR Bid Tournament.

Since there isn't an 11 National Division, any 11 Regional team can play in the 12s Bid without having to play in a Play-In Tournament.  The same is true for 10s.

In the Bid Tournament, divisions with 16 or fewer teams entered will be run in a single day (either Saturday or Sunday depending upon what works best for the event).  Divisions with 17 or more teams entered will be run across both Saturday and Sunday.  In the two day events teams typically will play 4 matches on Saturday and at least 3 but as many as 5 matches on Sunday.

More information on playing formats will be avaiable after the registration period ends and we know how many teams are in each division.

Seeding for the OVR Bid Tournament will use an average of up to the four best tournament results for each team.  This will form a basis of 50% of the seeding information.  The club directors/coaches of the teams will also vote on their recommended seedings.  This will be the other 50% of the seeding.  The combination of these two values will determine the final seeding for the event.

Once the seeding is completed, teams from the same club will not be switched out of a pool to avoid playing another team from the same club in the first round of pools.

Since this is a qualifying event for the USAV girls National Championships, the Libero will NOT be allowed to serve nor will we be using a 2 meter step-in line for the 12s division.
