• From the east:

  • Take Interstate 70 West, Exit 37A (43 South – toll road). After the toll booth, take the California Exit (2nd exit). Turn right at the end of the ramp, then make the first left (3rd Street – business district). Travel straight through the town of California, through the stoplight, and through campus. At the stop sign, turn left. Hamer Gymnasium is on the left and parking is on the right.

• From the west:

Teams may enter California University Tournaments by sending an
entry feel ($175), a team contact name and address by January 15.

Thank you for your interest in our tournaments.  Due to an
uncontrollable event on campus the tournament will begin at 1:30
PM  A coaches'meeting will be held at 1:00 PM on the center court
of the playing site.  The tournament starts at 1:30 PM.  Pool play
is the best of three sets with rally scoring.  Each non-deciding
set will be to 25 points with a minimum two-point advantage (no
scoring cap). The deciding set, if needed, will be to 15 points
with a minimum
two point advantage (no scoring cap.)  

3 courts, 5 referees, 12 teams, 28 matches
3 pools of 4 teams

For pools of 4 teams, the best of 3 sets will win matches. Each
non-deciding set will be won by the
team that first scores 25 points with a minimum 2-point advantage
(no scoring cap). If there is a
deciding set, it will be won by the team that first scores 15
points with a minimum 2-point
advantage (no scoring cap). Change sides when a team earns 8
points. A point will be scored on
each rally. If the receiving team wins the rally, they score a
point and gain the serve.

Tournament format: All teams advance. All teams must be ranked
within their pools based on match percentage first.
For any ties, use the tie-breaking procedure below. All
first-place, second-place, and the top two
third-place teams to the Gold playoffs. The remaining third-place
and all fourth-place teams to
the Silver playoffs. Playoff positions on the tournament brackets
will be based on pool finish to
avoid teams from the same pool playing each other in the first
round.
Seeding procedure: Pool A Seeds 1, 6, 7, 12
Pool B Seeds 2, 5, 8, 11
Pool C Seeds 3, 4, 9, 10
Teams from the same club, regardless of seed, should not be placed
in the same pool.

Prior to each team's first match of the day, the warm-up will
consist of 15 minutes (7 shared), 4 minutes serving team, 4
minutes receiving team.  After each team's first match, the
warm-up will be ten minutes.  

Concessions
Keep all coolers in cars.  Coolers are prohibited in Hamer
Gymnasium.  A concession
will be provided at the tournament site.

Awards
First and second place team awards for coaches and players will be
given for tournaments with 9 or more teams.  First place team
awards will be given for tournaments with 8 or fewer teams. 

Tournament Cancellation
Per OVR regulations, a team canceling after the entry deadline,
14
days prior to the tournament date, will forfeit entry fee.  A
team
cancelling prior to the entry fee deadline does not forfeit its
full entry fee if a replacement is found.  A team cancelling from
this tournament to enter a different tournament will forfeit its
entry fee.

Cancellation
If for any reason the tournament is cancelled, a notice will be
displayed at the OVR Junior Tournament list.  Club directors
and/or coaches and officials will be contacted as soon as
possible.  Entry fees will be returned.
