The following procedures are recommended when a tournament has pools comprised of both AA and A teams (this presumes there are less than four (4) AA teams):

  1. A-registered teams that play in pools with AA-registered teams will receive an additional 0.250 points added to their pool play points.

  2. The top three teams from each pool will advance to the playoffs as follows:

The AA team(s) will advance to a 3-team AA playoff bracket. If there are less than 3 AA teams, the top A team(s) will advance to the AA bracket to form the 3-team playoff (e.g., the top A team from the pool without AA teams). These A teams will earn both AA and A seeding points (A seeding points = AA seeding points + 1.500). The AA playoff format will be round-robin match play (2/3 11-point or 15-point games), which will guarantee each team will play an additional two matches. The team that wins this pool will win the AA tournament. Since there are fewer than eight AA teams in the AA/A tournament, the tournament host is only required to provide individual awards to the AA champion. Alternatively, if the tournament host is required to provide individual awards for the top two A playoff teams and doesn't provide awards for the AA bracket, then each of these three AA playoff teams will receive a $10 entry fee rebate (entry fee = $60). This alternative is authorized only if the tournament host provides two sets of individual awards for the A playoffs.

The remaining A-registered teams will advance to the A playoffs. If there are 3 A teams in the A playoffs, the format may be a single-elimination match format OR the round-robin match format described above. Otherwise, the playoffs will be a single-elimination match format. If there are less than eight (8) A teams in the AA/A tournament, the tournament host is only required to provide individual prizes for the A tournament champion. Otherwise, the A champion and runner-up will receive individual awards.

Below is an example tournament situation, using three 5-team pools. The A teams in pools 1 and 2 will have 0.250 points added to their pool play points. After pool play, the pool standings are as follows:

	POOL 1	POOL 2	POOL 3
	----------------------
1st AA-1 AA-2 A-3
2nd A-1 A-2 A-4
3rd A-5 A-6 A-7
4th A-8 A-9 A-10
5th A-11 A-12 A-13
AA Playoffs: AA-1, AA-2, A-3; round-robin format (below); individual prizes for champion only OR $10 entry fee rebate if no award presented; A-3 will earn AA and A seeding points (A seeding points = AA seeding points + 1.5)
1. 1 - 3 (2)
2. 2 - 3 (1)
3. 1 - 2 (3)
A Playoffs: A-1, A-2, A-4, A-5, A-6, A-7; single-elimination format; individual prizes for champion and runner-up
