Overview

The Ohio Valley Regional Volleyball Championships will be held at the 'Greater Columbus Convention Center on April 12-13, 2008.

Eligibility

All registered adult teams meeting the following criteria are eligible to enter the Regional Championships:

  1. A team must play in at least two tournaments in the region at the level in which it intends to play at Regionals.
  2. All players on the team must have completed their registrations (i.e. their registration fees and forms must be completed and processed by the OVR office) by April 1.
  3. No team with the red "registration incomplete" marker still under their team name will be accepted into the tournament."

Registration

All entries must be postmarked on or before April 1, 2008. Teams needing to requisition entry fee checks from sponsors, educational institutions, government institutions, etc. must requisition the check early enough so that it is received by the tournament host by the entry deadline. All teams whose registration is postmarked by the entry deadline will be accepted! Late entries may not be accepted. The entry fee is $175, and the entry form is available at OVR_Reg_Tournament_Entry_Form.pdf.

Pools for all divisions will be posted the week of the tournament on the Regionals tournament information pages:

  1. April 12, 2008: Men's AA and A; Women's AA and A
  2. April 13, 2008: Men's BB and B; Women's BB and B

Convention Center Rules

Below are the Columbus Convention Center site rules and regulations. In the past, the Region has lost the use of facilities due to abuse of site rules. A violation of any of the rules listed below could mean disqualification of any individual or team immediately from further competition in the tournament.

Team reps: Please make copies of this information and distribute to your team!

  1. Stay inside of the "Hall D" playing area. Don't camp out in the hallway. This is a public facility.
  2. There are no shower facilities.
  3. No coolers or food may be brought into the building at all. The center has two concession areas.
  4. Keep all chairs far away from any court or playable areas.
  5. Only certified vendors may sell clothing, shirts, shoes, etc. with approval from the Commissioner.
  6. No smoking in gym areas or hallways.
  7. No passing volleyballs in hallways or concessions areas.
  8. Put all trash in containers provided by the Convention Center staff.

Tournament Reminders

  1. Doors open at 7:30 AM both days. The tournament starts at 9:00 AM.
  2. Warm-ups: 1st match for your team – 10 minutes, 2nd match and thereafter – 5 minutes after the teams leave the court.
  3. Identical uniforms with visible legal numbers – no exceptions.
  4. Teams are required to provide second referee, line judges, and scorekeepers. Bring your own whistle!
  5. A player is not allowed to play for more than one team on the weekend of the OVR Regional Championships.
  6. A certified trainer will be provided at the site.
  7. Please encourage your team to take a few minutes to vote for the Board of Directors.

If any division requires the use of 5 or more courts at the Regional Championships, they will be divided into Gold and Silver brackets, based on seeding points. Each bracket will be a stand-alone competition. The winner and runner-up in each bracket will receive tournament awards.
