2012 OVR High Performance Program

For the past several years, the OVR has sent between 2 and 4 teams to the USAV Championships. This year, the 2012 USAV HP Championships will take place at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa. The tournament will take place July 24-28, 2012.

In order to be considered for an invitation to camp or a spot on the travel team, players must be current members of the OVR. Players from other regions are not eligible for consideration for the OVR HP teams.

Players Selected for the OVR HP teams participate in a tryout-which is held during their regional championships. Up to 20 players per age group will be invited to a HP Camp, which will be held July 12-15 in Columbus, Ohio at Capital University. The 10 member travel teams will be selected at the completion of the camp. The travel team will have an additional 1-2 day camp the following weekend before departing for the championships.

It is our intention this year to field 2 boys' and 2 girls' teams. We plan to field a National Select Girls' and an International Youth Girls' Team. We do not field a team in the Women's International Division.

We plan to field a Boys' National Division and a Boys' International Division Team, provided there is the talent and interest at the tryouts.

Coaches for the boys' teams will be announced in February, and the Coaches for the girls' teams will be announced in March. It is our goal to hire coaches with collegiate and/or high level club coaching experience.

This is the first year of a 2-year cycle for the new age groups. The age requirements are below. No player can be age-waivered for this event.

The OVR underwrites a significant amount of the expense for this program. We are also pleased that a sponsorship from Kaepa covers the cost of the uniforms, warm-ups, shoes and travel bags for the coaches and players. The participation cost for camp is $300.00. Players who are invited to travel to the championship will pay an additional fee. That fee will be announced by early March after all budget numbers are firm. The camp fee covers room and board at Capital University along with 8 training sessions. The travel team fee covers travel to and from the tournament from the second training site, accommodations at the tournament and some meals.

The tryout fee is $50.00 for players who register for tryouts at least 3 days in advance. On-site registration is $70.00. Tryouts are 3 hours long, and each player will receive a t-shirt.
