ASEP Courses for Sports Club Directors

What is ASEP?

The American Sport Education Program's volleyball course is a very useful tool for all club directors as well as for coaches and parents. It covers issues such as club philosophy, coaches, parents, risk, finances, and events. There will be round table discussion and the sharing of ideas between established and new clubs. We will discuss region-specific issues such as OVR Championships format, tryout issues, recruiting, and more. All club directors must be ASEP-accredited.

Who must attend?

The ASEP training conference is a requirement all new Ohio Valley Region club directors within the first year of membership. The OVR has the right to use disciplinary action against both the club and its director for noncompliance of this requirement. The action may include suspension of club/team membership or individual sanction of the director for 1 year. The action may include probation, suspension, or fine or whatever disciplinary action is deemed appropriate by the authorized person, persons, boards, or committees of the OVR. Appeals may be made in accordance with procedures set forth in the bylaws and operating code of the OVR.

An individual's ASEP accreditation does not expire. Each club director must be ASEP-accredited. ASEP-accredited individuals in the Ohio Valley Region are listed on our Certifications database.

ASEP Refresher

Returning club directors who are already ASEP-accredited are encouraged to attend the afternoon session at no charge. We recommend this refresher because of the many changes that have recently been introduced, including changes to insurance, new background screening, and new tournament opportunities (Power tournaments, Power Challenge, and changes to Bids and Championships).
