USA Volleyball: Ohio Valley Region OVR High Performance and Youth Team: Archives 2

In summer 1999 the Ohio Valley Region, in conjunction with USA Volleyball, ran the first camp of its kind dedicated to identifying and developing the elite 14-and-under athletes in the region. After a great experience last summer, we are looking forward to continuing and expanding the program in 2000 to the 16-under age group as well. The opportunity for elite athletes and coaches to train and compete together is a needed progression for the development of our sport.

Youth Team selections will be announced by Wednesday, March 8th. See how you can be a part of this team, and still compete for a spot. There will be a training/tryout day in late April or early May. Summer plans are almost complete and will be annouced as soon as possible.

The High Performance program is entering into an identifying phase to coincide with tryouts in order to determine the top athletes in the under 14 age division in the region who will be selected for the HP camp this summer. Look here for further information about the tournaments we will be at, and how you can let us know of your interest.

The second training session for the OVR Youth Team will be at the Maumee Sports Center near Toledo on May 20th, beginning at 10:30am and ending at 8pm. Any coach (high school, club or college) is welcome to attend. The sessions will run from 10:30-1pm, 2:30-4:30pm and 6-8pm.
