Seeding System for Adults' Teams
If you have questions on the Adults' Seeding System, contact Michelle Fox, OVR Adults' Program Director, at fox@ovr.org or 330‑666‑8709.
1. Seeding Point Assignment
| standard tournament | position |
| 10 | 1st place |
| 7 | 2nd place |
| 5 | 3rd place (losing in the semi-finals) |
| 3 | losing subsequent playoff round |
| 1 | losing subsequent playoff round |
| 0.5 | losing subsequent playoff round |
No points are given for making the playoffs in a tournament that is of a lower level than your team's classification. Points will be adjusted for the rest of the teams if a team of higher classification is in the tournament.
If tournaments of different levels of play need to be combined, teams will be separated into their own divisions for playoffs, or enough teams will be taken into playoffs so that no less then the usual number of teams in each division advances to playoffs. If there are only one or two teams of a particular classification in a tournament that has been combined, a number of points will be awarded to those teams which will not adversely affect their standings. This number of points will be the next highest rounded whole number above their current average points. Teams will be awarded points which correspond only to their level of play.
2. Ranking
Rank is based on a "Seeding Coefficient" which is calculated according to the following formula, where only the team's best five finishes are considered.
Total Seeding Points Earned
Seeding Coefficient = ----------------------------
Number of Tournaments Played
3. Other Considerations
If more than one team has the same coefficient, results of head-to-head competition will also be taken into consideration. If the teams in question had never played each other during the season, the team with the greater number of total seeding points will be ranked higher.
If more than one team has the same ranking based on all above criteria, the teams will be distributed in pools based on geographical location to allow them to play teams from other areas of the Region.
4. Teams Not Making Playoffs
Pool play winning percentage will be calculated to determine the rank of teams which have never made playoffs.
