Coed Game Play Rules

  1. There can be a maximum of four men and there must be at least two women on the floor for each team during play at all times.
  2. Libero usage (if any) must allow for team to still comply with rule # 1.
  3. If teams use substitutes, a team may only substitute a man for a man and a woman for a woman.
  4. There are no back row "blockers" that can block in the front row, ever.
  5. There are no line-up restrictions in regard to where females may be. If a team chooses to have their females next to each other, they can do this.
  6. There is no female contact rule. If three men use all of a team's contacts during a rally, this is legal.
  7. The net will be set at men's height (7' 11 5/8").
  8. All other USAV rules apply to game play.

Coed Regulations

  1. Uniforms worn by teams must meet the following minimum criteria:
    1. All team members must wear a numbered shirt that complies with present USAV uniform number stipulations.
    2. All team members of the same gender must wear the same color uniform top.
    3. If a libero is to be used, the libero must contrast with the rest of the team members and be immediately recognizable.
  2. There will be no paid officials for OVR coed adults' tournaments for the 2008 season. This policy can be reviewed for future seasons.
  3. Players may begin to register for the 2009 OVR season on September 1st, 2008, allowing for their participation in the 2008 OVR coed adults' season. If a player is presently a registered member of the OVR, they must renew their OVR memberships by November 1st, 2008 to continue playing in OVR-sanctioned coed adults' events.
  4. Coed teams register online at www.ovr.org/register/ (just like men's and women's teams). However, coed teams do not declare a club affiliation, as all coed teams will be a part of the same club. This allows any registered player to play with any other registered player in the Region for any coed event.
