Ohio Valley Region Coed Adults' Volleyball
Tournament Format
The following tournament format will be used for OVR coed adults' tournaments:
- Tournaments will be run based on a tiered system with three classifications of tournaments: (AA/A, A/BB and BB/B)
- The top two teams in each pool will advance to the upper division playoffs (AA/A/BB).
- The third and fourth place teams in each pool will advance to the lower division playoffs (A/BB/B).
- The lowest seeded team in each playoff bracket will officiate the first round of the playoffs.
- All matches in pool play will be two sets to 21 points with playoffs being best two out of three sets, with sets 1 and 2 being to 21 points and the deciding set, if needed, to 15 points.
- If a one court 5 or 6 team pool is run, the top four teams will advance to a playoff and there will be no lower division playoff.
- Tie-breaking procedures for determining places 1-4 are as follows:
- Head to Head.
- Point Differential between two teams.
- Overall +/- of points within pool.
- Coin Toss.
- This will determine whether a team plays in the upper or lower division as used for Juniors in the OVR.
- Tie-breaking procedure for determining 4th place:
- If two teams are tied for 4th place: One game playoff to 25 points, no cap.
- If more than two teams are tied, the procedure used to determine places 1-4 will determine places 4-6, then the lowest seeded teams will play a one game playoff to 25 points, no cap. The winner will then play the higher seeded team in a one game playoff to 25 points, no cap to determine fourth place.
